A garden unfolds in the dark.
A Korean palace banquet meets a French garden after nightfall. Kamkam imagines this encounter through the darkness of ink, the depth of pine and flowers opening beneath the stars.
Created for the show at Musée Guimet, it invites two worlds to share the same night. Inspired by the meeting of Joseon and France in Shin Kyung-sook’s The Court Dancer.
Inside the scent
Smoky Korean ink · Thyme · Night flowers · Hwangjang pine
A smoky ink accord sets the scene. Thyme brings a green, airy brightness; tuberose and white florals emerge against the darkness. A pine accord, evoking the timber of Korean palaces, gives the composition its depth.
